Pipe Threading Machine for your component and the required production operation.

Application and machine selection

IMC supplies equipment and tooling to cut external pipe threads using matched chasers in a rotating die head. Start the selection with the finished component rather than a general machine label. The application details should include pipe outside diameter, wall thickness, material, thread standard and end-thread length. A drawing or representative sample helps establish what the proposed configuration needs to achieve.

Working arrangement

The setup review should cover pipe clamping, die-head and chaser selection, cutting-fluid arrangement and long-pipe supports. Compare these requirements with the technical data on this page and identify which model and accessories are being offered. Identify the connection standard in full; pipe diameter alone does not distinguish tapered and parallel thread requirements. Any quoted output should be related to the actual stock, component and handling arrangement.

Agree the job and supply package

For sample acceptance, specify thread form, taper where specified, gauge acceptance and the required mating fitting. Identify the inspection method in the component requirements. Include the batch size, utilities, delivery location and any spare-tool or installation needs. Select the available options and add the quantity to the Quote List; the offer should identify the machine and tools for this defined application.

TECHNICAL DATA

Technical Specifications

Model data and technical details supplied for this product. Final configuration can be confirmed against your application.

The technical information below is based on the model data stored for this product. Final machine capacity, die-head size, chaser profile and thread result should be confirmed against the actual pipe and required thread standard before order confirmation.

Pipe Threader Working Principle

In a chaser-type Pipe Threader, the pipe is held securely in the clamping system while the die head rotates around the job. Suitable tangential chasers remove material progressively to produce the required external thread. The tooling, spindle speed and machine size are selected according to the pipe diameter, material, thread form and thread length.

Bed Type vs Pillar Type Pipe Threader

Bed-type machines are generally selected where the job and tooling arrangement require a rigid machine bed and controlled saddle movement. Pillar-type configurations are used for application-specific pipe or scaffolding work where the clamping and machine layout differ. The correct configuration should be confirmed from the component size, thread length and production requirement.

Parallel & Taper Pipe Threads

The existing product information lists Metric, BSP, BSPT, NPT, UNF, UNC, BSW, ACME and BSF thread forms. Exact availability depends on the selected die head, chaser profile, job diameter and machine configuration. BSPT and NPT taper-thread requirements should be specified clearly when requesting a quotation.

Machine Selection Notes

For a 1" to 4" pipe-threading application, the stored model data lists a spindle-speed range of 40–75–115, three spindle speeds, indicated production of 35–40 pieces per hour, lead screw provided and approximate machine weight of 1600 kg. Actual output depends on pipe material, thread length, tooling and operator setup.

Spindle-speed clarification: The published spindle-speed row does not state its unit. Confirm the unit and available speeds for the selected configuration with IMC.

Selecting Pipe Threading Machine

Compare pipe outside diameter, wall thickness and required thread form before choosing the die head. A nominal pipe size alone does not define the complete setup. Match the chasers and thread-length control to the drawing, then confirm the suitable model from the capacity table.

Confirm Thread Quality Against the Drawing

Specify the finished thread standard, pitch or TPI, tolerance or gauge requirement and engagement length with the quotation request. A diameter range does not confirm every thread form. Agree the matching die head, chasers and inspection method for the sample job before final machine selection.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pipe Threading Machine

A Pipe Threading Machine cuts external threads on pipes using a suitable die head and threading chasers. The machine on this page is intended for industrial pipe-threading applications including parallel and taper threads, subject to the selected tooling.

The pipe is clamped securely while the die head rotates around the job. Tangential chasers progressively remove material to form the required external thread. Machine speed and tooling are selected according to the pipe size, material and thread standard.

The stored product table lists models from approximately 3/8 inch up to 10 inches. Final capacity depends on the selected model, die head, chasers, pipe material and required thread.

The existing product information lists BSPT and NPT among the supported thread forms. The exact taper standard, pipe size, pitch or TPI and chaser tooling should be confirmed before quotation.

Bed-type and pillar-type machines use different machine and clamping arrangements. Selection depends on the pipe diameter, job length, thread length, application and production requirement. IMC can review the job before recommending the configuration.

The stored table includes a 1 inch to 4 inch model with 40–75–115 spindle-speed range, three spindle speeds, indicated output of 35–40 pieces per hour, lead screw provided and approximate machine weight of 1600 kg.

The stored model data ranges from approximately 100–120 pieces per hour on the smaller 3/8 to 2 inch model to approximately 15–20 pieces per hour on the larger 4–8 inch and 8–10 inch models. Actual output depends on the job, material, thread length, tooling and setup.

Send the pipe outside diameter, material, required thread standard, pitch or TPI if known, thread length, production target, electrical supply and any drawing or sample details. You can also use the Available Options section on the product page.
